Where was I...

Image
Oh yeah. It's spring in Vermont. So, you know what that means, right? New shoes!!!!

Are these not the most adorable shoes? I sent far to much on them, but I had to have them. Plus, they match perfectly with the dress I'm planning on wearing for Robin's wedding next Saturday.
Oh, my god. Robin is getting married next Saturday. Marie and I still don't know how exactly we're getting down to Maryland. Okay, so we're taking my car. But, I mean route. We don't know the route. And we're both chicken drivers so this could get interesting. We're not going to get very far if we're both in the back seat cowering in fear.
I'm so looking forward to the trip though. I haven't really had any kind of vacation since I went to Italy back in 2007. Long weekends here and there, but I'm taking a whopping three days off for this. In a row. I know, right? Since when does three days in a row count as a vacation? Apparently, since next Thursday.

It MUST be Spring...

... it has to be. How do I know? Because the farmers are spreading their fields. That's the surest sign I can think of.
And if you're a city slicker, you're probably thinking "spreading their fields with what?" You sure you want to know the answer to that?
Okay...
Manure.
Yep. Sure sign of spring, that wonderful eau de dairy air.

What the H-E-double L-O??

So, in addition to belly dancing and yoga, I seem to have also taken up running. WTF?? It wasn't my fault!!! I swear. I emailed Alex the other day and asked her if she wanted to take a walk. The next thing I know, I'm jogging along with her Couch to 5K podcast. What's worse is I've said that I'd do it again tomorrow.
Someone please tie me to the couch and put a margarita in my hand. I keep up with this and I might actually get in shape.
I know, I know. Time to nip this in the proverbial bud.

Musings.

Last Friday I was having an email conversation with a good friend, former boss, and all around wise woman (aka my friend Janine). She works at a local college, as was trying to convince me to come on board as well. I made the passing remark that working at an institution of higher education was about the only way I'd be able to get a higher degree. I can't really afford to go back to school, but I know that at this point if I want to further my career, I'm going to need to take some classes of some kind or another.

Then Janine said something about following your heart and soul and not your head. My head knows I need to go back to school for classes in graphic design, or a degree program, or something. My Soul, however, wants to take belly dancing classes and yoga classes and dance classes.

Dance your life, Janine said. I like that. My soul wants to move, and no amount of education regarding Adobe Illustrator is going to make her happy. So I'm going to give her belly danc…

Weekend Update.

Although, there's no Tina Fey here to make it funny and worth watching.
Saturday morning I got up early and to my first yoga class. I met my cousin Chrissy at Evolution Yoga and took the Kripalu (? sp) class. It was great. I was able to keep up pretty well considering this was the first time I did yoga following a person instead of a video. But man, did it kick my ass! I have sore places this morning that I didn't think could get sore.
Yeah, I so want to go back for another class! I'm not gonna let some stretching beat me. Oh, helllls no!
This afternoon I hung out at Robin's and made cookies. Okay, she made cookies and I ate them. They were yummy. Chocolate-Lavender shortbread cookies. Death by cookies.
Looking down a work week. Belly dancing class tomorrow evening. I'd like to be able to find another dance class later in the week. Maybe something like modern or jazz. Or something.

Wow, it's been a while.

Hello, all!
It's been a while, hasn't it? Not that I think there are too awful many people out there waiting on the edge of their seats to read about my life, but I should at least try to keep this thing updated.
This past weekend was a fun one - weekend at Marie's! My friend Robin, her baby Rhea and I drove down (in nasty rainy/snowy weather) for a weekend of knitting, hanging out, and eating. Yeah, lots of eating. On our way down, Robin, Rhea and I stopped at a cute little store in Randolph called Mugworts and Malachite. We've been trying to get there for like a year. If you're not into the woo-woo, it may not be for you. But it's got some great stuff in there and it smelled real good.
But anyway. Photos of the weekend are pretty happenstance because I forgot about my camera. But here are some shots:
Marie's two pooches. The big one is Smudge and the little one is Holly.

Could it be... Spring?!?

Well, I’ve always said that Vermont is about a year behind in trends. Apparently it’s about a month behind in weather. But...it’s sunny and warm(er) than it has been in recent memory. There is more ground than snow (at least everywhere I’m looking), everyone’s in a good mood and it’s hard to concentrate on the tasks at hand. To me, that’s a pretty clear indication of spring!

While Tuesday was a freakishly warm day, it hasn’t been staying as cold as in previous weeks. It seems we’re firmly entrenched in the 40’s now, and possibly even the 50’s! While that still sounds cold to a lot of you, just know that until this week, we were having issues staying above freezing. Yeah, so this is better.

And this blog entry is pretty boring, isn’t it? When you’ve come off a winter as long and frustrating as this one, this stuff is interesting!

Woot Woot!

Today, we marked a milestone here in Vermont. It was 60!!! Now granted, it's a one-day fluke, but I'll take it. The snow packs were fighting the good fight, but ever shrinking. It's about friggin' time. Tomorrow it'll be down into the lower 40's, but that's still an improvement over the past couple weeks, where it struggled to stay above freezing. The wind was really whipping today. The clouds were zooming along in the gray sky and rain came and went according to its own whim. It was a Wild Day. I love wild days.
Still, I'd like a spring day or two thrown into the mix.  ;-)
